She homered in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader and finished the weekend with seven RBIs, a 1.625 slugging percentage and a .750 on-base percentage, thanks to four walks over three games. Phillips roped an RBI double in the Gamecocks’ (42-13, 24-3 CUSA) 9-1 series-opening victory. She doubled again in the first game of Saturday’s twin-bill and capped the scoring with a two-run blast. Phillips helped blow the finale open with a three-run shot as part of a six-run fourth inning.

Pitcher of the Week – Emily Koranda, Missouri State – Freshman – Marion, Iowa
Koranda (13-14) went 2-0 last week for the Bears (22-28, 10-17 CUSA) and tossed a pair of complete-game victories to secure a series win over NM State. She posted a 0.50 ERA and allowed just one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts in 14 innings of work. The potent Aggie offense, which ranks third in CUSA in team average (.313), was held to a .091 average against Koranda. She set the tone for the series with a shutout performance in game one, striking out four and scattering just three hits in seven frames. The next day, Koranda helped clinch the series with another dazzling outing, striking out five in a one-hitter. She gave up a solo shot with two outs in the first inning and held the Aggies hitless for the remainder of the afternoon.

Freshman of the Week – Makenna Moore, Jax State – Pitcher – Grain Valley, Mo.
Moore (15-1) allowed just five hits over eight innings of work with four strikeouts to help Jax State sweep Sam Houston to wrap up the regular season. In two outings, she posted an unblemished 0.00 ERA and a 0.63 WHIP. Moore tossed a perfect inning of relief with a strikeout in the Gamecocks’ series-opening victory. She got the nod in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader and earned a complete-game shutout, striking out three and allowing just five hits to finish with a perfect 11-0 mark in league play.
