SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Two of Missouri’s longest-standing locally-owned media companies,
Zimmer Communications and Mid-West Family, today announced plans to combine their
Springfield, Missouri, radio operations, creating one of the region’s strongest locally-owned
multimedia organizations, pending approval by the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC).
Mid-West Family, owners of KKLH (104.7 The Cave), KOMG (105.1 The Bull), KOSP (102.1
The Won), and KQRA (Q92.9 Springfields Rock Station ), along with the Around the Ozarks
multimedia brand, will merge its Springfield operations into Zimmer Communications
following FCC approval of the transaction.
Zimmer Communications currently owns and operates KTXR (98.7 The Dove), KWTO-AM
(960-AM, 93.3 FM News/Talk), KWTO-FM (101.3 Real Country), KZMO (93.7 The Stage), and
KBFL (1060-AM, 96.9 -FM The Jock), serving listeners and advertisers throughout the
greater Springfield market. Upon approval, Zimmer Communications will manage nine
heritage radio stations, significantly expanding its ability to provide local news,
entertainment, digital marketing, and advertising solutions across southwest Missouri.
The combination brings together two respected, locally focused organizations with
decades of experience serving listeners, businesses, and communities throughout the
Ozarks. By joining forces, the companies will be better positioned to invest in local
programming, innovative marketing solutions, and the talented employees who have
helped build each organization’s reputation.
