TULSA, Okla. – Missouri State’s women’s soccer team closed out its non-conference portion of the season with a 2-1 loss at Oral Roberts on Thursday night.

The Bears (2-4-2) were able to get on the board thanks to a goal from sophomore Reilly Heman late in the first half. Heman scored her second goal of the season without any assistance in the 42nd minute of play. She also scored a goal against ORU last season in Springfield.

Both teams took eight shots on-goal throughout the game, but the Golden Eagles outshot the Bears 21-14 overall. MoState fired off eight shots in the second half with six taking flight in the last 10 minutes of play.

Goalkeeper Camielle Day made five saves to take her season total to 34.

Both of ORU’s goals were in the first half. Audrey Weir opened scoring in the 14th minute with an assist from Jordan Grisby. Less than two minutes later, Julie Thasaphong scored the game-winner with assists from Riley Baldwin and Weir.

“Another tough matchup on the road,” head coach Kirk Nelson said. “Proud of our team for battling back into the game and putting a ton of pressure on them in the second half. We are ready for the conference!”

The Bears will begin their final run to a Missouri Valley Conference championship on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 1:00 p.m. with a match at Drake.
