New Soccer Coach at SBU

Bolivar, Mo. – SBU Director of Athletics is excited to announce Glodi Konga as the next men’s soccer head coach. Coach Konga joins the Bearcats with over 10 years of coaching experience.

Coach Konga has spent time coaching nearly every level of college soccer including NCAA DI, NCAA DIII, NAIA, and most recently USL League One. He was an Assistant Coach for the Sarasota Paradise and the Academy Director, launching the first ever academy at Sarasota. While there he supported professional training sessions, tactical implementation, in-game analysis, and player pathway development.
 
Prior to the Sarasota Paradise, Konga was an associate Head Coach at his alma mater, NCAA Division I, Liberty University. While there, he helped guide them to an Ohio Valley Conference semifinal appearance.
 
Before time with the Flames, he was a head coach at New College of Florida where he launched the first men’s soccer program there. Along with recruiting 50+ athletes and maintaining a 3.4+ team GPA, he led them to a 10-3-1 record their first season. He also served as a member of the Eastern University coaching staff. Starting as an assistant coach, he worked his way to head coach.
 
As a player, Konga was a defender for Liberty in 2014 and 2015, appearing in 18 games with 14 starts. In 2014, he helped anchor a defense that recorded six shutouts, contributing to an 11-6-1 season. A native of London, England, Konga Transferred to Liberty from Cairn University (2012-13) after beginning his collegiate career at Cloud County (2011-12). He was part of Cloud County’s 2011 NJCAA National Championship team, which posted a 22-1-3 record with 17 shutouts, and he has since been inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
 
Following graduation, Konga played professionally for the Philadelphia Fury for two seasons.
 
Konga earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science (2015) and master’s degree in sport management (2016) from Liberty. He completed his Ph.D. in Sports Leadership at Concordia University Chicago in 2023. He holds a UEFA “B” license and has led several teams on international tours with Athletes in Action and Ambassadors Football, competing against professional teams.
 
He and his wife, Arianna, have a three-year-old son, Zebediah.
