DALLAS – Following standout performances over the weekend, Missouri State’s Taeg Gollert and Jax State left-hander Eli Pillsbury earned CUSA weekly honors.
CUSA Hitter of the Week – Taeg Gollert, Missouri State – Sr. – 1B/OF – Toronto, Ontario
Gollert was sensational over the weekend as the Bears (30-17, 18-9 CUSA) swept the Aggies in their final home series of the season. The Mo State utility man hit .500 over the three-game sweep, with three homers and back-to-back five-RBI performances on Friday and Saturday. In Friday’s 14-8 win, he belted his fourth career grand slam, setting a Missouri State program record. On Saturday, he went 3-for-5 with two long balls and another five RBI output. He concluded the weekend with a 1-for-3 day with a run scored and an outfield assist by throwing out a runner at home from left field.
CUSA Pitcher of the Week – Eli Pillsbury, Jax State – R-Jr. – LHP – Newburgh, Ind.
Pillsbury claimed his second Pitcher of the Week nod after matching his career-high with 12 strikeouts on Friday night. The southpaw notched another quality start on Friday night for the Gamecocks (40-11, 22-5 CUSA) going 7.1 innings of one hit baseball, only giving up one earned run. Pillsbury lowered his season ERA under 3.00 and allowed batters .042 in his start. He was left with a no decision in the outing.
