WARRENSBURG, Mo – Drury Volleyball opened their weekend in Warrensburg with a 3-1 loss to the 23rd-ranked Central Missouri Jennies.
Drury started the first set on fire, getting to an early lead and coming within one point of winning the set. The Jennies went on a 7-1 run to proceed and take the first set 27-25. Central Missouri rolled with the momentum to take the second set, 25-18. The Panthers’ lone lead in the set came after they won the point to break the 3-3. Drury responded after a tough second set to win the third 25-19, leading wire to wire. In the fourth set, Central Missouri got out to an early seven-point lead before Drury closed the gap, sparking another Jennies seven-point advantage. The Panthers brought it close again, but Central Missouri was about to get the win 25-22.
Drury won the hitting percentage battle against Central Missouri, led by Kayli Duncan with .360 and 11 kills. Kyla Clubb led the team with 13 kills, and Mailie Chretien also recorded 11 kills and 22 digs. Lauren Tyler assisted on 42 points. On the defensive end, Grace Gardner had five blocks.
The Panthers will return to the court tomorrow to face off with #4 Nebraska–Kearney in Warrensburg. The first serve is set for 11 a.m.
