wtt preview

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Wrestling will have three representatives at the 2024 World Team Trials in Omaha, Nebraska on Saturday Sept. 14 through Sunday Sept. 15. Jarrett Jacques, senior Keegan O’Toole and freshman Aeoden Sinclair will all compete in freestyle for the top spot and the opportunity to represent Team USA at the World Championships in Tirana, Albania, October 28-31.

Jacques, former student-athlete and recently named Recruiting Coordinator, will compete in the 70 kg bracket and is pre-seeded No. 5. The Columbia, Missouri native earned a spot on the U.S. National Team after placing fourth at Olympic trials on April 20. At the trials, Jacques came in as the 11 seed and defeated the three, six and nine seed to make the team. Additionally, he placed fourth in the U.S. Open, Bill Farrell, and Senior Nationals at 74kg.

O’Toole is making his return to the mat after an injury prevented him from competing in the 2024 Olympic Team Trials after qualifying with his U23 Gold Medal. Pre-seeded at No. 4, the senior is highly decorated already as a four-time All-American, two-time National Champion, a Junior World Champion (2021 – 74kg) and a U23 World Champion (2023 – 74kg). The 79 kg freestyle bracket contains veteran names such as Chance Marsteller and Jordan Burroughs, along with former Iowa State wrestler David Carr.

Sinclair, the No. 5 pre-seed at 92 kg, enters the tournament following a U20 Pan-American Freestyle Championship at 86 kg in July. The freshman comes in as a Super 32 Champion, Fargo Champion and WNO Champion, as well as a three-time Wisconsin State Champion. The Askren Wrestling Academy product was the No. 1 ranked 2024 recruit at 190 pounds by FloWrestling and on the MatScout Big Board.

The action will kick-off Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. CT with Prelims, Quarterfinals and Consolations. A full schedule of the trials is listed below. The event is available to stream on Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast & Apple TV.
