On the Pitch

  • Missouri State’s women’s soccer team is set to take on the No. 19 ranked Billikens from Saint Louis at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29. Admission is free.
  • The Bears and Billikens last battled in 2022 when SLU was able to put up seven goals to the Bears’ zero. MoState only holds two wins in 20 matches. Most recently, the Bears bested the Billikens 1-0 in a home bout on 9/25/11. Six years prior, MoState won 1-0 at home on 10/20/05.
  • Three games in, the Bears have outshot their opponents 60 – 31 and have 31 shots on-goal to their opponents’ 13.
  • MoState is on a home unbeaten streak of 12 matches. Their last loss in Springfield was against Murray State on Oct. 6, 2022.

  • Julia Kristensen picked up the first goal of the season in the fifth minute against Tulsa. She was assisted by 2023 MVC assists leader Grace O’Keefe.
  • Goalkeeper Camielle Day made three saves against Tulsa and SIUE for her 20th and 21st career shutouts. She moves into third in school history behind Alexis Stormo (2001-04) with 24 and Jackie Jasper (2005-08) with 27.
  • Missouri State was named the NCAA Statistical Champion in shutout percentage (.684) with 13 clean sheets in a 19-game season.
  • Day was also named an NCAA Statistical Champion for a goals against average of .452 (eight goals in 1,593 minutes played). Her GAA also set a school record previously held by Alexis Stormo who recorded an average of .73 in 2004.
  • Head coach Kirk Nelson enters his third season leading the Bears. In his two years at the helm, he has led the team to an MVC tournament championship (2022) and the team’s best winning percentage (.763, 2023).
