KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri State women’s soccer team tied Kansas City, 0-0, on the road on Thursday night.

The Bears (2-2-2) and Roos (3-0-3) got a late start after storms delayed kickoff by over an hour.

Missouri State had trouble finding its footing in the first half and did not record a shot until the second half when they were able to put three on-goal. The Roos took seven shots between the two halves with two being on-target.

Reilly Heman and Julia Kristensen led the Bears with two shots apiece. Both of Heman’s shots were on-goal. Kaeli Benedict, Carly Raunig and Lillie Rasmussen each took a shot.

Goalkeeper Camielle Day was able to block both on-goal shots from Kansas City to keep the shutout. With her 22nd career clean sheet, Day is six short of setting a new program career record.

“This game is always a battle with an in-state rival,” head coach Kirk Nelson said. “First half was a bit of a struggle getting into the game, but we responded in the second half and created some quality chances. Great job by our team to pull out the shutout on the road. Looking forward to Sunday.”

The Bears will stay out on the road to face Oklahoma on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The game will be shown on SECN+.
