NORMAN, Okla. – Missouri State’s women’s soccer team lost to Oklahoma, 8-0, on the road on Sunday.

The Bears’ (2-2-3) freshmen made a splash in the match with three of the Bears’ four shots coming from first year players. Forward Maggie O’Keefe led the Bears with two shots, both of which were on-goal, and defender Jane Hansen took her first collegiate shot on-goal. Sophomore Reilly Heman took MoState’s fourth shot.

Oklahoma outshot the Bears, 29-4, but Missouri State was more accurate with its shots. MoState had 75% of its shots on-target compared to 72% of OU’s.

Both Bears goalkeepers recorded multiple saves between the posts. Camielle Day made nine saves for a new season-high and Ella Becker made two.

Two Sooners logged multiple goals with Ella Pappas recording a hat trick and Juliette Rayo scoring a pair of goals.

“Oklahoma is a quality side, and we couldn’t put together a full game to counter that,” head coach Kirk Nelson said. “I’m happy that the team fought until the end. We play these games to get ready for conference. Looking forward to on more test this Thursday.”

Missouri State will close out its non-conference portion of the schedule on the road at Oral Roberts at 6:00 p.m. on Sept. 12.
