Tigers Host Sixth Annual Gans Creek Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri will host its sixth annual Gans Creek Classic on Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, home of the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championship. 

Missouri will host 63 competing teams, leading the Gans Creek Classic to be the largest meet of the event’s history. The race will feature a men’s 8k (2k/2k/3k loops) beginning at 8 a.m. CT and the women’s 6k (3k/3k loops) at 8:45 a.m. The meet will continue with two open collegiate races, with the men’s 8k at 9:30 a.m. and the women’s 45 minutes later at 10:15 a.m. 

Live Results will be posted on PrimeTime Timing. This will be the Tigers’ second and last home meet of the season.

The Gans Creek Classic will conclude with high school races for the first time in the event’s history on Friday, running from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, with races commencing at 7:55 a.m. and going throughout the afternoon. 

The Tigers opened the 2024 season with their Mizzou XC Opener on Aug. 30, with both the men and women taking first place. 

Sophomore Rachel Broemmel led the team to a win, placing first with a final time of 17:34.8, a 12.5-second lead over her second-place teammate, Nicole Louw. The Mizzou men took eight of the top ten individual results with Tyler Freiner earning his first collegiate win with a time of 18:23.7, earning him his first SEC Runner of the Week honors of his career.

The Gans Creek Course is located on the south side of Columbia and is a 320 acre-park which is a state-of-the-art facility that has attracted state, regional, and national meets. The course uses its rolling terrain to its advantage to provide challenging two- and three-kilometer loops. 

This course has also been the host to the MSHSAA Cross Country Championships, the 2021 SEC Championships and the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Midwest Regional Championships.
