COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Department of Athletics Missouri has announced the 2024-25 members and leadership positions for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a group dedicated to enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. Meeting bi-weekly throughout the academic year, SAAC addresses issues and concerns faced by student-athletes while advocating for their needs and fostering a sense of community across all teams.

SAAC is comprised of representatives from each Mizzou athletics program, serving as the governing body for MU student-athletes. Additionally, SAAC holds a seat in the MSA student government senate, acting as the voice of the athletics department on-campus.

The primary responsibilities of SAAC include:

  • Communicating with campus administrators, athletics department staff and the NCAA
  • Voting on Southeastern Conference and NCAA legislation
  • Discussing issues affecting student-athletes
  • Assisting in planning student-athlete development events

For the 2024-25 academic year, SAAC will be led by Co-Presidents Taylor Williams of the swimming and diving program and gymnast Kyra Burns.

“Kyra and I, as Co-Presidents, are extremely excited for this year,” Williams said. “We have an incredible executive board and with their help, we have already started planning SAAC’s vision. I love how SAAC provides a space for everyone to have a clear voice about what they want out of their experience at Mizzou. As an executive board, we look forward to leading all members of SAAC to our goals for the year.”

“This year in SAAC we hope to foster a supportive community where student-athletes are effectively communicating with staff and one another, integrating into Columbia through community and campus events, and create involvement opportunities within athletics,” Burns said. “As leaders of SAAC, the executive board and I want to encourage others to step outside of their comfort zones and give back to the community that has continuously supported Mizzou Athletics.”

The other members of the SACC Executive Team for 2024-25 will be Vice President Calvin Windle (swimming and diving), Treasure Colby Revord (track and field/cross country) and Secretary Addie Dobson (women’s golf). Revord was also one of two student-athletes selected in the Southeastern Conference to attend the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in November in Charlotte, North Carolina. This forum helps student-athletes develop leadership skills, refine their understanding of the relationship between personal values and behavioral styles and build a supportive network of like-minded peers from across Division I, II and III athletic conferences.
