COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri soccer cruised to a 5-0 victory over SEMO Sunday evening at Audrey J. Walton Stadium.

Five separate Tigers (2-3-1) scored in the contest as the shutout victory marked the first time Mizzou totaled five goals since another 5-0 triumph over Ole Miss on Sept. 9, 2016.

To open the scoring in the 12 minute, junior forward Kylee Simmons battled a group of Redhawk (0-4) defenders with a missed shot, but seconds later, Simmons came back with a header that went into the net, giving Missouri an early 1-0 lead. The goal marked the first of the season for the 2023 All-SEC First Team selection.

Senior midfielder Leah Selm and redshirt freshman midfielder Monica Brauner tallied a pair of goals in the 24th minute, only 29 seconds apart. Selm found the bottom of the net with an assist from freshman midfielder Landis Canada, and Brauner turned around to find the top of the goal, quickly opening the Tigers’ lead to 3-0.

The 29-second gap marks Missouri’s fifth-fastest time in history between consecutive goals.

After a SEMO handball in the box, sophomore forward Brianna Buels converted a penalty kick. It was Buels’ first goal of the season and advanced Missouri to a 4-0 score.

The fourth goal of the game marked the Tigers’ third fastest time in history reaching four goals in a game, doing so at the 29-minute mark.
After the break, junior forward Bella Carillo tallied her first career goal, hitting the top of the net in the 54 minute. The successful attack marked Missouri’s sixth fastest time in history reaching five goals in a game.

The Tigers outshot the Redhawks 26-0, playing a strong defensive game and keeping the ball in Missouri territory for the majority of the game.

Freshman forward Ava Vetter and freshman defender Callaway Combs made their first career appearances against SEMO.
