Panthers score two late goals to win at Newman

WICHITA, Kan.– Sergio Anzar scored with 1:33 remaining in regulation to give Drury a 2-1 win over Newman in Wichita, Kansas on Thursday.
 
The Panthers improved to 2-0-1 and dropped the Jets to 1-2.
 
Drury trailed 1-0 after halftime and scored both their goals in the final 11 minutes. Mason Platts evened the game with his first goal of the season in the 80th minute as Joe Loughnane earned the assist.
 
In the closing moments, Anzar, a junior from Zaragoza, Spain, put Drury in front with his first score of the season.
 
The Panthers had a man-advantage through the second half following a red card on Newman’s Mario De Roque Zazon in the 35th minute. The game would end with both teams at even strength, however, after a red card on Drury’s Matteo Ledoux in the 84th minute.
 
The Panthers hung on for the win as Camden Meyer (2-0-1) saw 15 shots and made three saves. Drury had 14 shots and put eight on goal.
 
Drury returns home for their conference opener on Sunday as they host Missouri-St. Louis for a 2:30 pm game at Harrison Stadium.
