Panthers move up to finish 10th at Missouri Southern Invitational

AFTON, Okla.— Drury moved up three spots to finish tied for 10th among 16 teams at the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational, played at the par-72 Shangri-La Resort in Afton, Oklahoma on Tuesday.
 
The Panthers shot one-over-par in the second round on Tuesday and finished the tournament with a team score of +18, 594. Arkansas-Fort Smith won the event by one shot with a +2, 578, and squeaked past Arkansas Tech, who finished second. Washburn finished third and were just two shots off the lead. The event was shortened to 36 holes after rain delayed and interrupted play on Monday.
 
Gaige Lewis led the Panthers and finished 24th in a field of 84 finishing with a two-over-par 146. The sophomore from Springfield-Kickapoo shot a 74 on Monday, then an even-par 72 on Tuesday. Hunter Jowers had Drury’s best round of the tournament as he posted a two-under 70 on Tuesday. Jowers finished 34th with a +4, 148. Pedro Betoret was 40th (+5, 149), Ellton Bostrom came in 63rd (+9, 153) and Andrew Bristow was 65th (+10, 154).
 
Mathieu Zerwin from Northwest Oklahoma State won the tournament shooting a six-under-par 138.
 
Drury competes again on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Midwest Regional Preview, hosted by Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Missouri.
