SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Leah McDonald scored in the 82nd minute to forge a 2-2 tie for Drury against Maryville on Friday afternoon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.

The draw brought Drury’s record to 2-0-1, while the Saints, who were coming off a road win at second-ranked Washburn last week, went to 1-0-1. The game was scheduled as a non-conference contest and the two squads will meet again in St. Louis on Sept. 29 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match.

Maryville struck first on an early goal from Brooke Slater, but the Panthers answered in the 31st minute as Ines Villanueva Casal converted on a penalty kick.

The Saints took the lead back in the 64th minute, but McDonald got the equalizer with 9:08 remaining on an assist from Zoe Tolksdorf.

Drury had a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal and led in total shots 16-8.

The Panthers open their GLVC schedule on Sunday when they host Missouri-St. Louis at noon at Harrison Stadium.
