Drury Women’s Golf lead after shortened day one of Kansas City Cup

SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The Drury Panthers finished a shortened day one of the Kansas City Cup, hosted by William Jewell. The tournament is being played at the Paradise Point Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri. The course is a par 72 with 6,065 yards to play. This event was played by 12 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) schools. Day one was called at 7 pm due to nightfall with the lead group through 16 holes of round two.
 
Drury (+40) finished day one in first place out of 12. The Panthers led McKendree by one stroke entering play into round two and have grown their advantage by eight strokes with eight holes left to play in round two. Maryville rounds out the top three at a +49.
 
Jade Carter leads Drury, shooting seven over, and is currently tied for third. Right behind Carter, is Taryn Overstreet. Overstreet is tied for fifth with +8. At +13 Avery Chappell is tied for 11th and is the third lowest scorer for Drury. Grace Stafford falls right behind Chappell at +14. Isabelle Thrall rounds out the Drury lineup with a +17 in 24th place.
 
The Panthers finish out the second and third rounds of the Kansas City Cup tomorrow.
