Drury Volleyball goes 2-0 on second day of Drury Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mo – Drury Volleyball moves to 5-2 on the season as they take down Southern Nazarene and Roosevelt on day two of the Drury Invitational.
 
Game one for Drury, stayed close between the Storm and Panthers until Drury took a 16-13 lead. Following the point Drury went on a run to take set one 25-20. Set two was very similar just in favor of Southern Nazarene. Drury took a late lead of 23-22 but fell following three straight points from the Storm. The Panthers changed the momentum of the match in set three. Five straight points to give Drury a 23-18 lead propelled them to set three victory. The fourth set of the match was back and forth for the entirety. The most any team led by was three points, both teams had the lead. After multiple changes of the tide late, Kayli Duncan and Kyla Clubb came up big with the final two points of set four to win 30-28.
 
Clubb let the way with 14 kills for Drury with Mailie Chretien picking up 11. Lauren Tyler recorded 33 assists. On the defensive side, Kim Quinit had 20 digs.
 
Drury did not have any trouble holding the momentum as they stepped on the court to play Roosevelt. The newest team to Division II has yet to win a match at the Drury Invitational and the Panthers were going to keep it that way. A dominant start from the first point to the final point. The largest lead the Lakers had was four points in the first set before Drury put a six swing on the board to take the lead. Drury won set one 25-20, set two 25-16, and set three 25-21.
 
Gracie Kimrey had six kills for Drury. Kayli Duncan led the team hitting .438. Payton Mitchell had 13 digs off the bench for the Panthers
 
The Panthers close out the Drury Invitational with a game at 3 pm against Newman.
