The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events but the special games and moments we’ll always associate with 2023-24 as chosen by the Drury Athletics sports communications staff.
We’re down to our final four moments of 2023-24, and here is our fourth favorite:
#4 – Hunter Jowers finishes as the men’s golf GLVC runner-up
April 22, 2024 – Outlaw Golf Course – Smithville, Mo.
Hunter Jowers ended the 2023-24 season with a flurry. He won the Flyers Spring Invitational on April 7, then finished tied for first at the Music City Invitational in Drury’s next tournament. His hot streak continued in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship and he nearly came away with the league title.
Jowers tied for fourth but was three-under-par after 36 holes and entered the final round three shots off the lead. He worked his way into a three-way tie for the lead with three holes to play but came up just short and finished as the conference Runner-Up.
While he didn’t come away with the championship, Jowers’ run was still historic. His All-GLVC honor marked the first time in five years the Panthers produced an all-conference golfer.
