SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women’s cross country team won the inaugural Queen City Twilight, hosted at Allison Sports Town on Friday night. The Bears were able to push past SBU to win with 28 points.
Mary Margaret Harris led the Bears to their second straight meet victory with a time of 18:23.11 and a second-place finish. Addysen Clark followed closely with a fourth-place finish and a time of 18:29.55 for a PR. Ella Cronhardt was the third Bear across with a personal-best time of 18:30.34 to finish fifth. MSU’s Riley Bryan (18:35.11), Alex Adams (18:43.36) and Lena Singleton (18:49.42), all had career-best marks to finish eighth, ninth and tenth, respectively.
Both MoState and SBU had four runners in the top eight. Missouri State’s Alex Adams was the deciding runner to push the Bears to victory with 28 points.
SBU came in a close second with 29 points followed by Drury with (92), Evangel (102) and College of the Ozarks (130). Westminster only had two individual finishers out of 55 runners.
A total of 10 Bears set a personal record in the inaugural meet at Allison Sports Town.
“Above everything else, the opportunity to compete at home was the cumber one priority with this meet,” head coach Jordan Fife said. “We know we still have a lot of work to do, but it was such a thrill to see the team compete in front of so many friends, family, and Bear supporters!”
The Bears will try to extend their win streak on Sept. 27 when they travel to the Gans Creek Invitational hosted by Missouri.
