Bears Recognized on MVC Honor Roll

ST. LOUIS – A group of 186 current and former Missouri State student-athletes are among an elite crop of Missouri Valley Conference competitors announced Aug. 14 to the 2023-24 MVC Honor Roll.
 
The lists do not include Missouri State student-athletes in the sports of beach volleyball, football or men’s swimming, which compete in other leagues.
 
Conference-wide, 212 student-athletes earned the league’s highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Conference Board of Directors Academic Excellence Award, including 13 from Missouri State: Will Duff (baseball), Kayla Pfitzner (women’s golf), Alyssa Buchheit (women’s soccer), Abby Couch (women’s soccer), Camielle Day (women’s soccer), Kelsey Boyce (women’s swimming & diving), Lily DeSpain (women’s swimming & diving), Ainsley Krug (women’s swimming & diving), Sami Roemer (women’s swimming & diving), Kelly Sego (women’s swimming & diving), Mary Houston (women’s tennis), Natalie Clayton (women’s track & field), Katie Wemhoener (women’s volleyball).
 
The Board of Directors Academic Excellence requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through the spring 2024 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.
 

 
Likewise, 64 Bears earned the prestigious MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award. There were a total of 1,117 student-athletes in the MVC who earned this honor which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.

Finally, the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll was also announced with 186 Missouri State student-athletes earning accolades for classroom excellence. To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (fall 2023 and spring 2024), must have been a member of an athletics team, and must have been enrolled full time during the term they earned the honor.
