Two local universities, Baptist Bible College and College of the Ozarks, will appear in this seasons National Christian College Athletic Association Baseball World Series this weekend in Kansas City.
BBC was named as the tournaments 3-seed, yet another accomplishment in a remarkable season under second-year head coach Randy Merryman.
The Patriots baseball program was revived last season after being shut down in 1985. The team struggled, going 6-45.
This season has been a complete 180, going 40-19 and winning their regional tournament, defeating C of O in the regional championship 4-3.
They were named as the three seed in the World Series.
C of O had a great year as well, with a record thus far of 42-18, including a 3-2 record against BBC on the season.
Those 42 wins are the most in school history for the Bobcats. It is the program’s fourth straight appearance in the NCCAA World Series.
The Bobcats were awarded the first at-large bid in the tournament and given the 6-seed.
That pairs the Patriots and Bobcats against one another in round one on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
