Scott Advances to World Athletics U20 Championships Final

LIMA, Peru – Sterling Scott of the University of Missouri Track and Field team has advanced to the triple jump final at the World Athletics U20 Championships, clearing 16.29m (53’5.25″) and finishing first in his flight. 

Scott, a sophomore, set a career best in the event with the result. His performance ranks as the third-best outdoor triple jump in program history. The Starkville, Miss. native will compete in the final on Thursday, August 29 at 5:22 p.m. CT.

During his freshman campaign, Scott earned 2024 USTFCCCA All-American Second Team honors and was listed on the 2024 Outdoor Championships Second Team All-American honors in the Men’s Triple Jump. 

Scott entered the program record books twice this past season – moving into No. 3 in the indoor triple jump (16.14m) at SEC Indoor Championships on Feb. 24 and No. 8 in the outdoor triple jump (15.67m) at the SEC Outdoor Championships on May 11. He finished third and fifth at the meets respectively.

The Mizzou cross country team begins its season on Friday, August 30 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, home of the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships, for the Mizzou XC Opener.
