Panthers get early goal to down UMSL

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Lucas Schofield scored an early goal for Drury and the Panthers held Missouri-St. Louis off the scoreboard for a 1-0 over the Tritons on Sunday afternoon at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.
 
Drury stayed unbeaten going to 3-0-1 and 1-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Tritons dropped to 2-2 and 0-1 in the league.
 
Schofield’s goal came in the 12th minute and came with an assist from Joe Loughnane. It marked the second goal of the season for the sophomore from England.
 
Drury goalie Camden Meyer (3-0-1) got the win and his first shutout of the year. The sophomore from Springfield-Glendale saw nine shots and made six saves. The Panthers outshot UMSL 10-9 and both teams put six shots on net.
 
Drury’s 3-0-1 start is their best record through four games since 2016 when they won their first seven games to begin the season.
 
The Panthers return to the field on Friday when they take on Lincoln for a 7:30 pm game in Jefferson City.
