WARRENSBURG, Mo – Drury Volleyball falls to fourth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, 3-0, in the Central Missouri Tri-Match.
The first set was neck and neck between the Panthers and the Lopers with UNK holding not more than a three-point lead before Drury took the lead at the 13-12 mark. The Panthers and Lopers battled back and forth until Kearney pulled away and took the first set, 25-22. The second set was all Kearney. They held the lead from start to finish to win, 25-15. The third set was similar to the first set, except Drury did not hold a lead. The Panthers fell behind 19-11 before a timeout called by Coach Bahner-Hill sparked a 9-2 run for Drury. The run was not enough after the Lopers picked up the win 25-22.
Mailie Chretien led the team with 13 kills and 15 digs. Lauren Tyler added 38 assists. Kayli Duncan and Gracie Kimrey combined for four and a half blocks on the defensive end. Kimrey and Grace Gardner were second on the team in total points with nine.
The Panthers will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play at home on Friday, September 27 against Indianapolis.
