Zoe Van Dijk wins Americas Cup triathlon event in St. Peter’s

ST. PETERS, Mo.— Drury triathlete Zoe Van Dijk won the Americas Cup triathlon, a USA National Triathlon Development race in St. Peter’s last Saturday.
 
The junior from The Netherlands had a time of 1:07:46 and won by one minute and 40 seconds. Van Dijk completed the 750-meter swim in 11:54 and emerged from the water in the middle of the field of 28 competitors. She posted a time of 34:58 on the 20-kilometer bike stage and moved up to second. Van Dijk then finished with a 19:40 time in the 5-kilometer run and moved into first place at the one-mile mark.
 
Van Dijk finished 20th overall last fall at the NCAA national triathlon championship and the Panthers came in fourth as a team in Division II. Zoe also competes for Drury’s cross country and track teams.
