DRURY DOZEN – the top 12 moments of ’23-24 – No. 7: Reese Schaaf sets record with 24 rebounds vs Upper Iowa

The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events but the special games and moments we’ll always associate with 2023-24 as chosen by the Drury Athletics sports communications staff.

We’ll provide honorable mention selections later in the countdown, but for now, here is the number seven moment from 2023-24:

#7 – Reese Schaaf breaks Lady Panthers single-game record with 24 rebounds vs Upper Iowa

Feb. 29, 2024 – O’Reilly Family Event Center

It was fitting that this game happened on Leap Day because moments like this happen about as often. On Feb. 29, the Lady Panthers surged past Upper Iowa in the second half on their way to a win in the next-to-last game of the regular season and, in the process, forward Reese Schaaf pulled down 24 rebounds. The eye-popping total broke a program single-game record previously held by Melanie Oliver that had stood for 14 years.

Schaaf added 13 points for her 16th double-double of the season and Drury outscored the Peacocks 49-24 in the second half on their way to a 79-62 win.
