DRURY DOZEN – the top 12 moments of ’23-24 – No. 10: DU softball no-hits and run-rules Missouri Southern

The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events but the special games and moments we’ll always associate with 2023-24 as chosen by the Drury Athletics sports communications staff.

We’ll provide honorable mention selections later in the countdown, but for now, here is our 10th ranked moment from 2023-24:

#10 – Drury no-hits and run-rules Missouri Southern

March 5, 2024 – Thompson Field at Meador Park

It was multiple impressive feats in just one game as the Panthers stunned Missouri Southern in game one of a doubleheader as Kristina Bettis fired a no-hitter and Drury scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to run-rule the Lions in an 8-0 win.

For Bettis, it was the third no-hitter of her career and marked the fifth no-hitter in program history. All five innings she pitched were when the game was scoreless.

Drury broke out in the fifth and walked off the game on a grand slam by Taylor Hartsell.

The win came against a Missouri Southern team that finished 21st nationally the year before and was one of the most emotional wins by any Drury team during the 2023-24 sports season.
