Drinkwitz, Tigers Revisit Dallas for SEC Football Media Days

DALLAS — Nearly seven months after beating Ohio State in the 88th Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium, Mizzou Football returned to Dallas on Tuesday, site of Southeastern Conference Football Media Days. As the annual preseason kickoff event made its debut stop in the state of Texas, Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz and Tiger student-athletes made their rounds around the Omni Hotel during the second day of the annual four-day event, visiting with many of the 1,200 credentialed media to preview the upcoming 2024 season. Wide receiver Luther Burden III, quarterback Brady Cook and defensive lineman Kristian Williams joined Drinkwitz in Dallas for Tuesday’s event.

“We have a lot left to prove to reach the level of consistency and success that we all want, and I understand that there’s a lot of outside expectations on what our football program should be,” Drinkwitz said from the main stage during Tuesday’s event. “I think for us the most important thing is to focus on running our race.”

“Although we had a good year last year and accomplished a few things, we still have to go out and prove it this year,” Cook said. “For the guys that came back, for the team we have now, 2024 is all that matters. That’s the record that’s going to be talked about. These are the games that’s going to be talked about. No one is going to talk about the Cotton Bowl versus Ohio State moving forward. It’s in the past. It’s in the history books.”

Coming off last year’s 11-2 season, the Tigers kick off 2024 on Aug. 29 at Memorial Stadium against Murray State, the start of four consecutive home games to begin the year. The Tigers also host Buffalo, Boston College and Vanderbilt to start the season, followed by home games against Auburn, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Mizzou makes road visits to Texas A&M, Massachusetts, Alabama, South Carolina and Mississippi State. Some game times and game-time windows were announced earlier this summer
