MVFC Announces 2023 Academic Awards, 32 Football Bears Honored

ST. LOUIS – A total of 32 current and former Missouri State football student-athletes were honored Thursday (July 11) as part of the 2023 Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll, as announced by the league office.
 
Topping the list of Bear honorees is Grant Goodson (OL, Norman, Okla.) who was the only Missouri State student-athlete to be honored with the President’s Council Academic Excellence Award.
 
The President’s Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (through Fall 2023 semester) and participation in football a minimum of two years.  The 50 honorees in the league this year are also scheduled to graduate by the end of the summer of 2024.
 
Eight grid Bears were also announced as part of the league’s Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 for the previous two semesters. Freshmen are not eligible for this award. Missouri State’s honorees are: Caden Bolz, Grant Burkett, Goodson, Spencer Grosz, Raveion Harrell, Celdon Manning, Lance Mason, and Jordan Pachot.
 
The Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the previous two semesters (freshmen are not eligible). A total of 318 student-athletes received the award this year.
 
The Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for the Fall 2023 semester. These individuals must have been a member of the football team, and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall.
 
Missouri State’s members of the MVFC Honor Roll for 2023 are: Jahiel Blue-Smith, Bolz, Burkett, Jacob Clark, Gary Clinton, Justin Curtis, Joshua Deal, Colton Feuerbacher, Goodson, Nik Goodwin, Grosz, PJ Hall, Harrell, Cash Hudson, Danielson Ike, Lemondre Joe, Andrew Link, Cristian Loaiza, Manning, Mason, Ethan Merrell, Liam O’Reilly, Pachot, Keaton Renfro, Owen Rozanc, Jax Rumsey, Dylan Simmons, De’Andre Washington, Jalen Williams, Tavier Williams, Hunter Wood, and Larry Wright.
 
To qualify for the MVFC Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2023), must have been a member of the football team, and must have been enrolled full time during the fall.  More than 700 student-athletes earned Honor Roll recognition for the 2023 season.
