Wrestling Totals 11 Academic All-Big 12 Honorees

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri wrestling saw 11 student-athletes earn Academic All-Big 12 distinction, announced the league office on Tuesday, June 25.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) or higher, either cumulatively or for the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except the percent of participation are also eligible.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. The Tigers saw eight of their 11 honorees awarded first-team accolades.

For the third consecutive year, redshirt senior Peyton Mocco, redshirt junior Noah Surtin and junior Keegan O’Toole claimed first-team honors. They were joined by juniors Logan Gioffre and Ellis Pfleger, redshirt sophomore Jesse Cassatt, and redshirt freshmen James Conway and Clayton Whiting

Redshirt senior Zach Elam marks his third straight season on the second team and is accompanied by junior Rocky Elam and redshirt senior Brock Mauller.

Cassatt, Gioffre and Pfleger all collect the honor for the second time of their careers, while Conway, Mauller and Whiting all earn it for the first time.
