Former Tiger Clement Secchi Qualifies for Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former Mizzou All-American Clement Secchi secured his spot in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games with a second-place finish in the men’s 100-meter butterfly Friday at the French Elite Championships in Chartres, France.

Secchi recorded a 51.17 finish to join Maxime Grousset (50.52) as France’s Olympic qualifiers in the 100 fly. The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be contested in Paris, July 26-August 11, with swimming competition set to take place at Paris La Defense Arena.

The Aix-en-Provence, France native became Mizzou’s fifth Olympian, extending a streak that has seen the Tigers’ men’s and women’s swimming and diving program produce at least one Olympic qualifier in each of the last three summer games, dating back to the 2016 Rio Games. He joins Mack Darragh (Canada), Mikel Schreuders (Aruba), Dominique Bouchard (Canada) and Fabian Schwingenschloegl (Germany) on Mizzou’s elite list of Olympians.

A three-time honorable mention All-America honoree in his lone season as a Tiger (2023), Secchi ranks among the top five all-time at Mizzou in the 100 back, 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 back. He captured the 200 fly (1:41.07) at the 2023 SEC Championships, before finishing 14th in the same event at the NCAA Championships.
