Panthers host Maryville in final home series of regular season
Drury hosts the Maryville Saints in a four-game series starting Friday in their final homestand of the 2024 season at the newly renovated Mark Worley Field at Meador Park. Game one of the series was moved up to a 3 pm first pitch on Friday. Games two and three are Saturday in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm, then the series is scheduled to conclude on Sunday at noon.
 
The Panthers will honor their graduating players before Saturday’s game one for Senior Day.
 
The four-game series will be pivotal in deciding the Great Lakes Valley Conference race. Drury enters the weekend 24-17 and 21-7 in the GLVC and trail first-place Indianapolis by only one game. Maryville was leading the conference race until last weekend when they were swept in four by Indianapolis. The Saints are 28-14 and 20-8 in the league and trail the Panthers by one game for second place and are two games back of the Greyhounds. Maryville bounced back from the four losses to win on Tuesday when they beat Webster 18-17.
 
The Saints swept Drury in a four-game series in St. Louis last year, but the Panthers got a 6-3 win over the Saints in 11 innings in the opening round of last year’s GLVC Tournament. Drury is 28-15 against Maryville all-time.
 
After this weekend’s series, the Panthers end the regular season with a four-game series at Southwest Baptist next weekend.
