Drury stays unbeaten in GLVC with win at Truman St.

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—  The Drury Panthers stayed unbeaten in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 6-1 at Truman State on Thursday.
 
Drury went to 11-6 and 4-0 in the GLVC while the Bulldogs dropped to 9-11 and 0-4 in the league.
 
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead winning all three doubles matches. Alma Abazi and Ewa Samberger, playing in the lead doubles position, won their 10th in a row and improved to 14-3 in the spring with a 6-3 win over Allie Brown and Sydney Dial.
 
Drury won five of the six singles matches. Abazi, playing in the number one spot in singles, retired in the first set. The Panthers won the other five matches and Maria Fernanda De la Torre Ugarte Espejo improved to 12-2 and she won her eighth in a row with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Sydney Dial. Antanina Novik didn’t lose game as she won her match, 6-0, 6-0 and Franca Piaggi, playing the number six match, also won 6-0, 6-0.
 
The Panthers end the regular season on Saturday at Quincy with an 11 am match in Quincy, Illinois.
