Both Drury tennis teams ranked in the Midwest Region

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–  The Drury men’s and women’s tennis teams are both ranked in the top 10 in this week’s NCAA-II Midwest Regional rankings.
 
The number 21 ranked men’s team was ranked fourth in the region. Eight schools will be selected for the NCAA-II Midwest Regional on May 10-11. The other GLVC teams that are in the top ten are Indianapolis at number one, and McKendree at number five. The Panthers are behind the Greyhounds, as well as Ferris State and Wayne State. Also ranked in the top ten is Tiffin at six, Grand Valley State at seven, Findlay eighth, Purdue Northwest at ninth, and Lake Superior State rounding out the ten.
 
This season the Panthers are 13-3, 10-1 in the region. Drury has two individuals ranked nationally this week. Yaroslav Sharyy is ranked 13th, and Marlon Wilken is ranked 73rd.
 
The women’s tennis team is ranked ninth in the region. The Panthers are one of three GLVC teams ranked with Indianapolis ranked first and Lewis at tenth. Tiffin, Wayne State, Findlay, Ferris State, Grand Valley State, and Northwood are the teams that make up the rest of the top 10. Eight schools will be selected to play in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional on May 13-14.
 
This season the Panthers are 10-6, 8-3 in the region. Ewa Samberger is the only Panther that is nationally ranked, coming in at 57th in the singles.
 
The Panthers next contest is away against Truman State on Thursday at 3 pm with only the women’s team competing against the Bulldogs. The men then join the squad as they travel to Quincy to take on Hawks on Saturday with the match scheduled for 11 am.
