COLUMBIA, Mo. — In its final tuneup before the postseason, University of Missouri track and field will travel to Manhattan, Kansas, for the Ward Haylett Invitational, which will take place from Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27.
- Two weeks ago, the Tigers traveled to southern California to compete in a pair of competitions at the Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational, both hosted by Long Beach State.
- Euphenie Andre strengthened her bid for a second consecutive NCAA Round One appearance by winning the women’s triple jump competition with a 12.94m leap.
- In the men’s discus competitions, Mitch Weber placed in the top-three at both the Pacific Coast Invitational and Beach Invitational, earning third- and second-place finishes, respectively.
- Steven Marks made his mark in the 100m dash, posting a 10.39 sprint that ranks ninth on Mizzou’s program top-10 list.
- In distance competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational, four Tigers posted program top-10 marks.
- In the 10,000m, Mikayla Reed (34:12.97) and Austin Popplewell (29:30.91) each posted Missouri’s eighth-best time in the women’s and men’s competition, respectively.
- Kaia Downs improved her standing within the program’s top-10 list, jumping a pair of spots to No. 8 in the women’s 3000m steeplechase (10:46.04).
- In the women’s 5000m, Jenna Schwartz secured the No. 9 spot in program history, finishing in 16:21.09 to take fifth in the race.
- In southern California, the Tigers had a banner weekend in the men’s discus throw event, with four competitors posting their best marks of the 2024 campaign to put themselves in prime position for an NCAA Round One spot.
- Mitch Weber came less than half a meter away from his personal best set in 2021, posting a 60.58m mark at the Beach Invitational, a mark which ranks seventh in the NCAA West Region Qualifying List.
- Skylar Coffey follows not far behind in 12th on the NCAA West Region Qualifying List after he hit a personal-best 58.24m throw that ranks seventh in program history.
- Tarique George jumped into the top 20 of the regional qualifying list with a personal-best throw of 56.84m that slots into 10th place in Missouri’s program record book.
- Rece Rowan rounds out the list at 22nd in the region with a 56.56m mark that came within a quarter meter of his personal best.
- In his first year as a Tiger, Skylar Coffey has made a major impact as a member of Missouri’s throws unit.
- With his 58.24m PB at the Beach Invitational, Coffey has put himself in position to make his second career NCAA Round One appearance after advancing in 2022.
- With an 18.04m shot put mark in his season-opening performance at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, Coffey ranks 26th on the NCAA West Region Qualifying List, where he is in position to qualify for his first NCAA Round One in the event.
- A trio of Tigers competing in the javelin throw this weekend hope to continue their strong campaigns in the lead up to postseason competition.
- After earning USTFCCCA All-America First Team honors in 2023, Skylar Ciccolini is hoping to make a run at her third NCAA Outdoor Championships appearance, ranking 15th in the NCAA West Region with a 52.43m mark at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
- Erin Zimmerman is looking to make her fourth consecutive trip to NCAA Round One. She sits 19th on the qualifying list after her 51.18m mark set at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.
- In his first year with Missouri, Callan Saldutto is looking to make his third NCAA Round One appearance with a 66.27m throw at the Pepsi Florida Relays, which ranks 31st on the NCAA West Region Qualifying List.
