Ewa Samberger named GLVC Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury women’s tennis player Ewa Samberger was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for her performance in matches against William Woods and Southwest Baptist last week. The nomination marked the second time this season that Samberger has won the award and it was the third total of her career.

Samberger went a combined 4-0 last week, winning both her doubles matches and both of her singles matches, as the Panthers went 2-0 for the week. The junior from Lublin, Poland, defeated the 9th ranked player in the NAIA against William Woods and then took down Southwest Baptist’s number one player. In her doubles matches, Samberger teamed up with Alma Abazi and went 2-0 with a win over Southwest Baptist’s top doubles team. The two doubles victories extended Samberger’s doubles win streak to nine-straight matches.

Drury is now 10-6 this season and extended their win streak to four straight matches after taking down Southwest Baptist in Bolivar on Saturday. They will be back in action this Friday when they travel to take on Truman State at 2 pm.
