Tennis Bears Wrap Regular Season at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. – The Missouri State tennis team wrapped the regular season with a 5-2 loss at Illinois State on Sunday.
 
Missouri State’s (13-9, 4-4 MVC) points came from the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches. Nicole Ross was the first to put the Bears on the board with her win in the No. 5 match. Ross battled Illinois State’s Nuria Sanz in the first set and eventually came out on top with a 7-5 win. The junior won the second set 6-3 to clinch her 14^th singles win in the dual season.
 
The Bears’ second point came from Sandra Lukacova’s win in the No. 6 match. After winning the first ser 6-4, Lukacova dropped the second 7-5. Since Illinois State had already clinched the match by the time the No. 6 match began its third set, a 10-point tiebreak was used which Lukacova won 10-2. The native of Kosice, Slovakia ends the dual season with a six-match winning streak and 13 singles wins.
 
The Bears will be the No. 6 seed for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament starting on Friday, hosted by Belmont.
