Track and Field Bears Set 17 Personal Records at Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Missouri State track and field team wrapped the day at Arkansas with 17 personal records on Friday.
 
The Bears competed against some of their hardest competition so far this season with Arkansas and Murray State being included in the field of competitors. Arkansas is currently ranked third in the country by the USTFCCCA and fellow Missouri Valley Conference competitor Murray State sits second in the conference rankings.
 
Brooke Jenkins had the highest finish of the day with a second-place finish in the triple jump with an attempt of 11.49-meters.
 
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Margo Nea set a personal record with a time of 11:12.23 fpr a third-place finish. Mia McLain also finished in the top-five with a time of 11:24.71.
 
Both the 4×100-meter relay and the 4×400-meter relay were season bests for the Bears. In the 4×100, Brianna Howard, Olivia Rogers, Kayleigh Jenkins and Alyssa Ball finished fourth with a time of 45.70. The 4×400 team of Rogers, Victory Ifah, Seleena Morris and Whitney Farrington finished fifth with a time of 3:47.76.
 
In the 400-meter hurdles, Magdalena Burdova set a personal record for the fourth meet in a row. The Czech Republic native placed fourth in the event with a time of 1:01.54.
 
Cheyenne White recorded a top-five finish in javelin. Her attempt of 41.84-meters landed her in fifth.
 
MoState recorded 13 finishes in the top-10.
 
“This was by far our best meet of the season, indoor or outdoor,” head coach Jordan Fife said. “The team responded well to the challenge and the competition with numerous lifetime bests. This was the meet we knew we were capable of all year. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going down the homestretch the next few weeks.”
 
The Bears’ season continues next weekend at the Ward Haylett Invitational hosted by Kansas State on Friday and Saturday.
