Hunter Jowers ties for first, Panthers finish 5th at Music City Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn.— Drury’s Hunter Jowers tied for first while the Panthers finished 5th among the 13 teams at the Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene on Tuesday.

Jowers finished the tournament at nine-under-par after shooting rounds of 69 (-3) and 66 (-6). The native of Jonesboro, Arkansas needed a birdie on the final hole to secure a tie for first place, which he converted in dramatic fashion. His final round 66 was the lowest round ever record by a men’s golfer at Drury. It was also his second victory in his last two starts, making him the first Panther to ever achieve back-to-back wins.

Drury’s Tryn Titus also had a strong showing, shooting an opening round of 69 (-3) and a final round of 70 (-2) to finish in a tie for 8th. Alex Wiseman shot a career low 70 (-2) in round one before carding a 76 (+4) in the final round, finishing T34th. Clayton Kaiser and Jack Day shot two rounds of 74 (+2) and finished T44th. The Panthers placed fifth as a team, ending the tournament at ten-under-par and three shots off the lead. Tiffin and Northwood, as well as Delta State, finished in a tie for first at thirteen-under-par.

The Panthers will be back in action on April 21st when they kick off the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, which will be hosted at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Kansas City, Missouri.
