Panthers lead after day one of the Flyers Spring Invitational

WHEATON, ILL.— Drury is in first place after day one of the Flyers Spring Invitational hosted by Lewis, at the par-72, Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois. The Panthers currently hold a 6-shot lead over 2nd place William Jewell and are 11 shots clear of 3rd place Quincy. The Panthers shot a team score of 290 and rest at two over par for the tournament.  
 
Hunter Jowers led the way for the Panthers, firing a career low round of 68 (-4). The performance is tied for the 3rd lowest round ever shot by a Drury player. The native of Jonesboro, Arkansas scored a team high five birdies, tallying only one bogey on the day. Jowers is tied for the individual lead of the tournament with Bryson Oots of William Jewell. Senior Clayton Kaiser of Drury is in 3rd heading into tomorrow, taping in his final putt to card a score of 71 (-1).
 
Alex Wiseman is tied for 8th after ending with a round of 75 (+3) and Wil Claywell is tied for 15th after shooting a 76 (+4). Tryn Titus is tied for 20th after a solid round of 78 (+6) and Walker Serrano ended his day with a round of 81 (+9).
 
The Panthers will look to close tomorrow, with play resuming early on Saturday morning.
