Softball Drops Midweek Matchup at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. – Missouri State softball fell to 8-22 on the year with a 13-2 midweek road loss at Tulsa (22-11).

The Bears got off to a quick start as Olivia Krehbiel knocked a leadoff home run to give MSU an early 1-0 lead. The long ball marked her second of the season and the 25th of her career.

Unfortunately for Missouri State, the Golden Hurricane went on to score 13 runs over the first four innings – five in the first, two in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth.

MSU’s next best chance to score came in the fourth as Annie Mueller and Emily Shipman drew back-to-back walks to begin the inning. But the Bears were unable to push a run across. In the fifth inning, following two quick outs, Missouri State loaded the bases twice and scored one run on a wild pitch to make it 13-2. Despite bases being loaded, a pop up ended the game after five innings on the road.

Krehbiel collected both of MSU’s hits on the day, going 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a home run. The Bears did draw five walks and two free passes on hit by pitches, but left seven runners stranded in the defeat.

The Bears stay on the road this weekend with a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series at Northern Iowa.
