Track and FIeld Bears Place Second at SBU

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Missouri State track and field team secured a second-place finish at the SBU Bearcat Invitational hosted by Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo on Saturday.
 
MoState earned 152.50 points in their second-place finish. Pittsburg State won the meet with a total of 183.50 points.
 
The Bears had two first-place finishers in this meet. Riley Bryan started the day off with a with a win in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:39.96. Grace Spoonhour followed up in third with a time of 17:59.34.
 
Meghan Halstead was the Bears other first-place finisher in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.79. Magdalena Burdova followed behind in a close second with a time of 1:02.81. Mirabella Redman rounded out the Bears in fourth with a time of 1:05.29. Burdova and Redman both recorded new personal bests.
 
Missouri State ended the day with six second-place finishes and six third-place finishes.
 
“We had a very productive day today,” head coach Jordan Fife said. “A lot of the athletes had a very heavy workload so some of the performances were not our best, but at this point in the season, we want to continue to get in as much work as possible. We will keep working hard through the next week since we have the weekend off from competition and then we will really focus on improving our performances as we get closer to the conference meet.”
