Tennis Bears Drop Road Match to Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. – The Missouri State tennis team dropped its first conference road game of the season with a 5-2 loss to Murray State.
 
The Bears (10-6, 1-1 MVC) recorded wins at No. 1 and No. 4 singles.
 
Cristina Flaquer secured the Bears’ first point with a win over Murray State’s Valeria Chaikovskaia. Flaquer defeated her opponent 6-1 in the first set before winning 6-3 in the second. Today’s win for Flaquer marks her second largest margin of victory this season.
 
The No. 1 singles match was one of two singles matches that did not extend to a third set or have any tie breaker points played.
 
The Bears’ other point came after the Racers had already clinched the match. Juliette Robinson beat Varvar Alexeyeva from Murray State 6-4 in the first set. Alexeyeva took the second set 6-2, and Robinson battled back in the third to take the third set 7-5 and to ultimately take the match. Robinson improves to 2-0 in third set matches this spring.
 
The Bears will stay on the road for a match at Belmont tomorrow Morning at 10:00 a.m.
