Track and Field Bears Stay Local for Second Meet

Keeping Track of the Bears

  • The Missouri State track and field team is staying local for its second meet of the outdoor season with a Saturday trip to the SBU Bearcat Invitational hosted by Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. Live timing will be available.
  • The invitational officially begins on Friday, but the Bears will only compete in Saturday’s (March 30) events.
  • Missouri State will send 36 athletes to compete in 18 events. The Bears will compete in shot put and the 3000-meter steeplechase for the first time this season.
  • Last year at this same meet, the Bears finished second out of 21 teams with 100 points. Northwest Missouri won the meet with 144 points.
  • The Bears opened the outdoor season with a dominant day in the Springfield Showdown last Friday. The Bears finished first in 11 out of the 15 events they competed in.
  • Mia McLain set a facility record with her finish in the 3,000-meter run (10:26.41). The 4×100-meter relay team also set a facility record as Brianna Howard, Olivia Rogers, Kayleigh Jenkins and Alyssa Ball won the race with a time of 46.51.
  • Rogers also finished first in the 100-meter dash (11.84) and the 4×400-meter relay (3:55.07). The freshman had the most first-place finishes of any competitor at the meet.
