Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth at Ozarks National

Final Results

HOLLISTER, Mo. — The Missouri State women’s golf team finished fifth Wednesday (Mar. 27) at the Ozarks National Invitational in its final tournament before the Easter break. Conditions for Wednesday’s final round were much improved after Tuesday’s opening round in the brutal cold and wind, and scores reflected it as the Bears posted a 298 team score compared to 327 in the first round for a 625 total.

Senior Kayla Pfitzner fired a two-under-par 70 at Ozarks National Golf Course after an opening 82 to finish eighth in the field and lead the Bears with a 152 total. Sophomore Kiser Pannier was a shot behind in ninth place after carding 79-74–153 and senior Johanna Wollenhaupt tallied 81-74–155 to place 15th. Senior Chayenne Chivrac posted 87-80–167 for the Bears and freshman Kyleigh Pfitzner had 85-83–168.

MSU’s White team was led by junior Helena Bel, who notched 83-74–157 and placed in a tie for 27th. The White team posted 330-311–641 for the two days and placed 11th in the 13-team field. Sophomore Lilly Whitley was second for the White and tied for 41st overall with 83-77–160, while freshman Tierney Baumstark tied for 46th after tallying 79-83–162. Freshmen Rylie Andrews and Coyee Zhang tied for 58th with 166 totals.

Oral Roberts cruised to the team title, carding 303-286–589, while Middle Tennessee rallied to take second, posting 328-284–612. South Dakota was third at 613, Toledo fourth with 622 and then the Bears. 

MSU is idle next week before returning to play April 8-9 at the ORU Spring Invitational.
