Ashley Childers named GLVC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury sprinter Ashley Childers was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Springfield Showdown, hosted by Missouri State last week.
 
Childers broke a program record and finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.86, the top-ranked time so far in the GLVC. The senior from Ozark also won the 200 meter dash, and her time of 24.03 was the fastest time in the event in team history and currently ranks eighth in NCAA-II.
 
Childers is the first Drury women’s outdoor track athlete to win the award in 11 years.
 
The Panthers track & field program competes again on Friday and Saturday at the SBU Track Meet, hosted by Southwest Baptist in Bolivar.
