Bear Golfers to Host at Ozarks National

The Missouri State women’s golf team is set to host the third annual Ozarks National Invitational in Hollister, Mo. this coming Monday thru Wednesday (Mar. 25-27).
The Bears will welcome 11 other teams to Ozarks National Golf Course for 54 holes of play, 18 each day. Monday and Tuesday’s rounds are scheduled for a 10 a.m. shotgun start and Wednesday’s final round for a 9 a.m. start.

Ozarks National is part of the Big Cedar family of courses and has received national acclaim since opening five years ago. Designed by the acclaimed duo of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the course was named Best New Course in the country in 2019 by Golf Digest and is ranked in the Top 100 Best Public Courses in America by the same publication. It will play at 6001 yards and to a par of 72 for this event.

The Bears are led by the senior duo of Kayla Pfitzner and Johanna Wollenhaupt, who sport the two best scoring averages on the team. Pfitzner is a two-time all-conference performer and Wollenhaupt has posted top-10 finishes in her last two tournaments. They’ll be joined on the Bears’ Maroon team for the tournament by Kiser Pannier, Chayenne Chivrac and Kyleigh Pfitzner. The MSU White team will be led by Tierney Baumstark, along with Coyee Zhang, Rylie Andrews, Lilly Whitley and Helena Bel.

Other teams in the Ozark National field include Bellarmine, Creighton, Indiana State, Lindenwood, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Toledo.
