Panthers host Upper Iowa in four-game series starting Friday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Panthers host Upper Iowa in a four-game series starting Friday at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Fayette, Iowa, but the games were moved to Springfield with the threat of winter weather.
 
The two teams will play at 3 pm on Friday, a doubleheader at 1 pm on Saturday, then conclude the series with a game at noon on Sunday.
 
The Panthers are 7-11 and 5-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Drury split a four-game series against Missouri S&T last weekend and fell at home to ninth-ranked Missouri Southern State on Tuesday, 10-8. Drury enters the weekend in third place in the league standings.
 
Upper Iowa is 6-13 and 3-5 in the GLVC. The Peacocks won three of four last weekend at Rockhurst, then dropped a Tuesday contest at William Jewell, 10-3, in a non-conference game. 
 
The weekend series is the first meeting ever between the two programs. Upper Iowa is in its first season as a GLVC member.
 
The Panthers are in the middle of 13 straight home games now that this series has moved to Springfield. Following Sunday’s games, Drury continues the homestand with a four-game series starting on March 28 against defending league champion Quincy.
