LEXINGTON, Ky.— Drury jumped eight spots on the final day of competition at the Saginaw Valley State Invitational to finish in an 11th place tie with Illinois Springfield in the 21-team event held at the par-72, 7,023-yard Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky on Sunday.
The Panthers shot a +3, 304, posting the second-best score in Sunday’s second round. Drury ended the tournament with a 19-over-par 595 in the 36-hole event. Indianapolis shot 12-under-par as a team and won the tournament by 11 shots over Missouri S&T. 24th ranked Ferris State came in third as they shot an even-par, 576.
Tryn Titus led the Panthers as he ended the tournament tied for 35th in the 130-player field with a three-over-par, 147. Hunter Jowers led Drury’s best round of the tournament on Sunday as the junior from Jonesboro, Arkansas, fired a one-under-par 71 in the second round and finished tied for 39th with a +4, 148. Clayton Kaiser was two-over-par on Sunday, and finished the event tied for 52nd (+7, 151). Will Claywell and Gaige Lewis both tied for 89th, ending at 11-over-par with a 155. Lewis bounced back from an 83 on Saturday and shot an even-par 72 on Sunday.
Ben Keil of Indianapolis shot a 10-under-par 134 to win the individual medalist honors by one shot over Johan Widel from Tiffin.
